Mrs. Linda's Discipline Plan

One of the goals in my classroom is to provide every student with a classroom climate where they may achieve at his/her greatest level. In order to achieve this goal, classroom discipline is very important.  Our classroom discipline plan emphasizes rewards for appropriate behavior, but also includes consequences for unacceptable behavior.  It is based upon a behavior chart.  Each child's behavior is tracked on a chart with a clothespin.  At the beginning of each day, every child starts out with his/her clothespin at the top of the chart.  Any time a rule is broken, his/her clothespin is moved down the chart and increasing amounts of playtime are taken away.

These are our classroom rules:

  1. Be a good listener (follow directions, don't talk while teacher is talking).
  2. Be a good friend (no hitting, name calling, or tattletales).
  3. Keep your hands to yourself (don't bother others' belongings or personal space).
  4. Always walk.
  5. Always use a quiet voice.

These are the consequences of breaking a rule:

Each clothespin remains at top as long as no rules are broken.
First time is warning.  No playtime lost
Second time - 5 minutes of playtime lost
Third time - 10 minutes of playtime lost
Fourth time- 15 minutes of playtime lost
Fifth time - all of playtime lost
Sixth time - go to principal's office or call parents

Rewards include:

Stickers
Trips to the treat box
Special privileges
Extra playtime
Special movie privileges

I hope that by working together, we can help your child develop the discipline and self control that will help them be the best they can be.
