School Wide Program
Title 1 at Bobby Ray is a schoolwide program, which allows freedom in the use of personnel and resources.  Schools with fifty (50%) percent free/reduced lunch applicants qualify for schoolwide status. In 1997-98, Bobby Ray did a year-long study and planning for a schoolwide Title 1 program.  Surveys from parents and teachers indicated that reading was the area of most concern.  Two full-time educators assist classroom teachers in developing competent readers.  Reading challenges are encouraged each nine weeks.  Students are tested using the Early Literacy and the STAR (Standardized Test for the Assessment of Reading) to identify strengths and weakness of individual students.  Family Reading Nights are sponsored four times a year to encourage family participation in the total reading program.  A School Wide Title 1 Committee meets periodically to monitor the program and make changes where applicable.
